Smiths Boats and Cruises on the island of Kauai operated at least four of these elderly (about 1951) Brill C31’s until the severe storm in the mid-1990’s cut tourist numbers. Hawaii BUS144 The Bus is the major provider of public transport on the island of Oahu in Hawaii and has a fleet of around 550 vehicles. This picture shows a 60 foot New Flyer D60LFR, one of 9 introduced in 2007.All buses in TheBus fleet have Hawaii State Licence Plate numbers matching the assigned bus number, and prefixed with BUS. The 45′ Van Hool T2145 coach is probably the most popular vehicle serving the tourist industry in Hawaii. The driver of this one, reg no P-12596, was unsure as to the provenance of his vehicle. He thought it had International running gear and a Detroit Diesel Series60 engine. Other examples I saw in the islands were powered by Cummins or Caterpillar power units.
