Cape Verde SL-59-AK The 30km x 12km island of Sal has no scheduled bus services to connect its few centres of population, but if a tourist should wish to tear himself away from the fantastic beaches of the south coast to visit the arid, barren interior of this desert island he could travel in this Mercedes-Benz 814D. Licensed to carry 16 passengers its large 4×4 tyres are equally at home on steep sand dunes, volcanic slopes, or outcrops of lava. ©Andy McClelland
